WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE 1912 CENTERWest Wing Celebration Friday, September 12, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. ![]() Heart of the Arts, Inc. (HAI) has entered the final push to complete the West Wing. KACI General Contractor from Pullman has been working hard to get this project done. On Friday, September 12 we would like to share the West Wing with the public for the first time. Come at 5 p.m. for the tour of the spaces, hors d'oeuvres, wine, music and stories of construction. At 6 p.m. we will host a formal program dedicating a room, opening the arts room for business and unveiling a memorial. We hope you can take the time this evening to help us celebrate the new spaces in the 1912 Center. The West Wing of the 1912 Center adds two major new spaces, an Art Workshop and a Community Meeting Room, to the building. In addition, the renovation provides: • A dressing room/restroom for weddings and other special events • Hallway gallery connecting the east and west portions of the ground floor • A refurbished entrance from Third Street into the 1912 Center Art Workshop The Art Workshop will rent for $15 per hour for private events, or $32 for a month's pass for individuals to use the drop-in times. This space will accommodate a wide variety of art projects or wet sciences. The room can be a home for art classes and workshops hosted by Heart of the Arts, Inc., local artists and/or the Moscow Arts Commission. This room can be rented for private art events (like quilter sewing days, weaving groups, pottery making [with items being fired off site], watercolor groups, etc.) Fall drop-in hours will be announced in September. Community Meeting Room HAI realizes that the public meeting space, to be officially named at the September 12 dedication, will be a community builder in the 1912 Center. Non-profit organizations can rent the meeting space at the low cost of $8 an hour. HAI is also creating the community hour, which will host groups that serve the greater Moscow community in the room for free one hour per month. The space can be rented by University of Idaho, the City of Moscow, and businesses for classes and workshops for $15 per hour. Dressing Room/Unisex Restroom This feature adds to the amenities available to people holding events in the building. It will include a dressing table and mirror for use by wedding parties, and a compact washer and dryer in a closet for on-site laundry of towels, tablecloths and napkins. Hallway Gallery This connects the East Wing (Senior Center and Friendship Hall) with the West Wing, bridging the spaces without going through the Great Room. Opening up this hallway will expand the art gallery that has been enjoyed by visitors to the 1912 Center since last June and has added to the experience of coming to the building. Thhis location will also be home to a memorial work of art, to be unveiled at the September 12 event. HAI still needs your financial support to complete this project. We are very close to the completion of the West Wing Campaign, but it is not too late to get your name or your business name on the donor plaque in the front entryway. Team Member Level is only $250 and you will be helping to make a difference in our community. Or donate a window for $1,912 and get your name on a brass plaque showing your commitment to brightening the future of the 1912 Center forever. Use the donate now button to make your contribution count toward this campaign. Thank-you!
